Google Assistant for Windows has been a difficult task for installation in the past. People who want to enjoy the versatility of this Android service to their Windows devices will need to follow some long process of the step-by-step guide. But today, that is not the case anymore.
Android’s Google Assistant have been only for Android Lollipop and later only. Since its debut back in 2016 on Google Allo, this virtual assistant has replaced Google Now in terms of day-to-day functionality.
If you have some devices that are supported by Google Home then the Google Assistant is a very useful help. You can control all of your smart devices with just your voice. You can now maximize the technology that is available to you with little efforts. This is what we call comfortable living at its finest right at the luxury of your home.
Now, if this is what you want, hence the reason you came here, we, here at the Giga Trick have prepared some a short guide for you. This will be an easy task, unlike most tutorials that you must have read before you got here. Here’s how to install Google Assistant for Windows.
Download Google Assistant for Windows
Downloading only the Google Assistant app will NOT run on Windows PC. You need to read the full instruction on how to properly install the file on any Windows machine.
How to Install Google Assistant for Windows 7/8/8.1/10
As we have discussed earlier, this guide on how to install Google Assistant on Windows will not require you to do some complicated tasks. Although this will require some tweaks and install a couple of apps, this is not going to be as difficult as you might have thought.
Google Assistant System Requirements:
But first, there are some system requirements that should be met first. Here are things that we need to install Google Assistant for Windows on a device properly:
Android 5.0 or higher
Google app 6.13 or higher
Google Play services
0 GB of memory
Device’s language set to a language listed here: Chinese (Traditional), Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Thai
The Nox App Player is still currently on Android 7.2 Beta, so the Google Assistant works but still a bit buggy. Typically, the Google apps and services are installing repeatedly each time you restart the emulator. And once all the necessary apps get installed, the voice assistant is speaking a bit fast randomly. Sometimes it speaks garbled, so we decided to go for the BlueStacks for now as the Google Assistant seems to work there a lot better. Hopefully, Nox developers will get it fixed soon or when the stable release gets a launch.
On the other hand, the latest version of BlueStacks is currently on Android 7.0 (Nougat) stable version so the rest will depend on your actual device settings and updates.
Installing Google Assistant for Windows
- Assuming that all system requirements are met, we can now proceed to the installation part. Please try to do the tutorial guide as it is being told step-by-step. This way, you won’t have to get any error once you got the Google Assistant for Windows running. Here is how it goes.
- Download the BlueStacks emulator by using the download button we provided below. Just right-click on the button and choose the “Open link in new tab.” It’s the latest Android Nougat version so you will have the best Android experience on your Windows machine.
- The download will amount to around 400MB of file size so expect it to take a couple of minutes to finish especially if your internet is a bit slow.
- Once the download finishes, go to the download folder and double-click to launch the installer.
- It will request for the typical installation folder and all. You may use the Windows default Program Files folder, or you can create a new folder specifically for the BlueStacks app. This is applicable for those who use SSD-based devices as they are usually on small storage capacity.
- Once the installation finishes, find the BlueStacks icon on the desktop.
- Before you double-click on the BlueStacks icon, you first need to plug in your microphone device and speaker or your headset if you are using a PC. If you are using a laptop, you can just ignore this part because all the audio-based devices are already built-in.
- Now you can double-click on the BlueStacks icon for the first launch.
- The first launch will require a one-time Google account login. Just provide all the necessary details regarding your Google account like you would when you first bought your Android smartphone.
- Once you are in the BlueStacks Home page, click on the Google Play Store icon.
Search for the Google app and install.
Install the Google Play Games and other Google Play Services.
Once you have all of the required Google-based services installed, go to the BlueStacks Android Settings while you are still on Google Play Store by swiping down from the top of the interface. Just like you would do when you want to see the notification on your smartphone.
Click on the ”Apps” button.
Scroll down to find the Google app and click on it to open the settings page.
Click on the “Permission” tab and make sure to check or activate all that you see on the list. These are all required in order for the Google Assistant to fully function. It needs primarily your location, mic, storage, camera, and other stuff.
Once you enabled all the required permission, exit to go back to the BlueStacks Homepage.
Now, download the Google Assistant APK by clicking on the download button we provided above. The APK file is small, so it should just take a couple of seconds.
Once the download finishes, go to the download folder where the Google Assistant APK is located.
Now drag and drop the APK file on the BlueStacks open window.
Wait for a few seconds for the app to install.
Once you see the Google Assistant icon on the Home page, you will need to restart the BlueStacks app.
When the BlueStacks launches again, open the Google Play Store and click on the Google Play Store Settings button. It’s the one with three horizontal lines on the top-left corner of the screen.
Now click on the “My Apps and Games” to check for any updates. If you find some available updates, click on it. If not, just go back to the BlueStacks Homepage.
You may now launch Google Assistant by clicking on the icon. Check by asking some questions or giving commands.
That’s it. You now have Google Assistant for Windows.
BlueStacks System Requirements
- For those of you that are wondering if your Windows device can run BlueStacks, here are the system requirements that you can use for reference. Typically, if you are using a device from 2010 onwards, you are likely to have a capable system setup. But if your Windows device is from the earlier versions, you will surely need to look into this system requirement.
- Minimum System Requirements
- OS: Microsoft Windows 7 and above.
- Processor: Intel or AMD Processor.
- RAM: Your PC must have at least 2GB of RAM. (Note that having 2GB or more disk space is not a substitute for RAM)
- HDD: 4GB Free Disk Space
- You must be an Administrator on your PC
- Up-to-date graphics drivers from Microsoft or the chipset vendor
- Recommended system requirements
- OS: Microsoft Windows 10

- RAM: 6GB or higher

- Internet: Broadband connection to access games, accounts and related content.
- Up to date graphics drivers from Microsoft or the chipset vendor.
Google Assistant for Android devices is great especially if you want all your supported devices to work even when you are on the go. But if you are typically working on one place inside your house, your Windows PC or laptop will better serve as your primary workstation.
This setup for Windows PC is much better because it gives you more control and less worry on your battery-operated smartphones. The possibility is endless if you just put your mind to it.
